Wedoany.com Report-Dec.16, Australia shipped 1.75 million tonnes of wheat, including durum, in October 2025, according to data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. This volume represents a 7 percent decrease from the 1.89 million tonnes exported in September but shows a 55 percent increase compared to the 1.13 million tonnes recorded in October 2024.

Containerised shipments in October reached 193,690 tonnes. The leading destinations were Vietnam with 44,636 tonnes, China with 26,943 tonnes, and Indonesia with 26,264 tonnes.

Bulk exports totaled 1.56 million tonnes, with the Philippines receiving 364,259 tonnes, Indonesia 289,775 tonnes, South Korea 195,681 tonnes, and Yemen 160,619 tonnes as the primary markets.

Analysis from Lachstock Consulting, based on shipping schedules, indicated that November exports were projected at approximately 850,000 tonnes prior to the arrival of new-crop supplies. Current estimates suggest total shipments for December could approach 2 million tonnes.

For the shipping year commencing October 1, 2025, Lachstock Consulting forecasts Australian wheat exports at 23.92 million tonnes.

In its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report released on Tuesday, the United States Department of Agriculture raised its projection for Australian wheat exports by 1 million tonnes to 27 million tonnes.

The monthly variations reflect typical seasonal patterns in grain availability and buyer purchasing cycles. Strong year-on-year growth in October underscores robust international interest in Australian wheat, supported by competitive quality and reliable supply chains.

Containerised volumes continue to serve diverse Asian markets efficiently, while bulk cargoes dominate flows to larger importing nations requiring substantial quantities for domestic processing.

Forecast revisions by industry analysts and official agencies highlight expectations of sustained export momentum through the marketing year. Higher projections account for favorable harvest outcomes and ongoing demand from key consuming regions.

Australia remains a major participant in global wheat trade, contributing significantly to food security in importing countries across Asia and the Middle East. The combination of bulk and container logistics enables flexible responses to varied customer preferences and port capabilities.

As new-crop wheat becomes more widely available, export pace is anticipated to accelerate in the coming months, aligning with peak shipping periods and replenishment needs in destination markets.
