Wedoany.com News - Recently, Shell announced that its subsidiary, Shell Offshore Inc., has decided to invest in a water injection project for the Kaikias field in the US Gulf of Mexico.

It is understood that water injection is a secondary oil recovery method that involves injecting water to displace crude oil towards adjacent production wells while simultaneously repressurizing the reservoir.
Shell stated that the Kaikias field water injection project is expected to commence its first water injection in 2028 and is projected to increase recoverable resources by approximately 60 million barrels of oil equivalent (P50).
