Wedoany.com Report-Nov 21,  LS Cable & System has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Denmark’s Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for the supply of offshore cables for the Haewoori Offshore Wind 3 project in South Korea.

The Haewoori floating offshore wind project is planned to be built in three phases, with a total capacity of 1.5 GW.

The cooperation agreement signed with South Korea’s LS Cable & System relates to the third phase, Haewoori Offshore Wind 3, which will be the first to move forward.

In addition, both companies shared their commitment to close cooperation and contribution to the development of the offshore wind industry in South Korea.

Owned by CIP and developed by Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), the floating offshore wind project is planned to be built at a site located approximately 80 kilometres off the coast of the city of Ulsan.

The developer secured Electric Business Licenses (EBLs) for all three phases of the 1.5 GW project and awarded a contract for the production, transportation, and installation of floating foundations for the floating wind farm.

Last month, the project company entered into a Transmission Service Agreement (TSA) with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).

In addition, Haewoori Offshore Wind recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI) and Ulsan Technopark for collaboration on floating offshore wind technology and workforce development.

When it comes to LS Cable & System, the company also signed an MoU with Equinor at the beginning of November for the 750 MW Bandibuli/Firefly floating offshore wind project in South Korea.
