Wedoany.com Report-Oct 14, Sany Renewable Energy Co Ltd this week said it has installed its self-developed 15-MW onshore wind turbine, the SI-270150, in Tongyu, Jilin Province, in northeastern China, setting world records for single-unit capacity and rotor diameter for onshore turbines.

The prototype will undergo more than a year of operational testing in an experimental wind farm to verify its reliability under real-world conditions, the Chinese manufacturer explained in a Linkedin post.

The 15-MW turbine is developed on the 12.X-16.X MW platform and is designed to generate enough electricity to power 160,000 households over a year. It has a rotor diameter of 270 metres (886 ft) and blade lengths of 131 metres.

Sany said the SI-270150 features a lightweight design and intelligent load reduction technologies, with its drivetrain including a dual tapered roller bearing (TRB) integrated main shaft support system.
