Wedoany.com Report on Feb 5th, the steam turbine generator unit independently developed by Dongfang Electric Group was officially shipped. It will be used for the Tibet Kaitou Amdo County Tushuo 100MW Tower-type Solar Thermal Power Station project.

The project is located in Amdo County, Tibet Autonomous Region, in the Tanggula Mountains at an altitude of approximately 4,650 meters, making it one of the world's highest-altitude tower-type solar thermal power generation projects. To adapt to complex operating conditions such as high altitude and a weak power grid, the shipped steam turbine unit employs molten salt tower-type solar thermal technology and efficient flow path design, and incorporates multiple specialized technologies including full lifecycle rotor management and last-stage blade monitoring. The unit is also equipped with a self-developed shaft seal adaptive system and an exhaust ventilation system specifically designed for the plateau environment, enhancing its adaptability and long-term reliability under wide-load operation.

Currently, Dongfang Electric has completed the delivery of core equipment such as the steam generator and steam turbine generator unit for this project. Regarding supporting equipment, the production of heliostats required for the project has exceeded 12,000 units. The high-performance polyurethane potting compound used in them was independently developed by Dongfang Electric, specifically designed for the harsh plateau environment to ensure long-term stable operation of the equipment.

Upon completion and operation, the project is expected to generate approximately 260 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, saving about 60,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 165,000 tons each year. The operation of the power station will contribute to improving the power supply capacity and the proportion of clean energy in the Tibet power grid.
