Wedoany.com Report on Feb 11th, Centrica Energy and Seneca Resources have recently entered into a 10-year agreement involving the procurement of MiQ-certified natural gas certificates, aimed at supporting independently verified methane emissions reductions. This long-term transaction is a first-of-its-kind effort in the energy industry, helping to strengthen the foundation for methane emissions reduction and highlighting both parties' commitment to global environmental efforts.
Under the terms of the agreement, Centrica Energy will procure 250,000 million British thermal units of MiQ-certified natural gas certificates daily over the next 10 years. This strategic move positions the company at the forefront of methane emissions reduction, aligns with increasingly stringent regulatory requirements, and further solidifies its standing in the sustainable energy sector.
Arturo Gallego, Head of Global LNG at Centrica Energy, stated, "Reducing methane emissions is one of the most impactful actions the energy industry can take to address climate change. This agreement with Seneca, while modest, is crucial and reflects Centrica's proactive stance on sustainability, allowing us to stay ahead of emerging regulatory requirements."
Seneca Resources, focused on the exploration, development, and production of natural gas in the Appalachian region, is continuously committed to reducing methane emissions through advanced monitoring technologies, leak detection, and equipment upgrades. In 2022, Seneca achieved MiQ's highest 'A' grade certification for its entire production for the first time, demonstrating its excellence in industry best practices and technology.
