Until the company was sold in November, 2009, we were a subsidiary of KLA-Tencor Corporation, a leading global supplier of semiconductor wafer defect inspection and metrology tools. MicroSense serves a host of industries including data storage, machine tool, and automotive. MicroSense provides customer value and security, through extensive business experience, financial strength, world-wide support, and technical leadership.Pioneering High Resolution Measurement with Capacitive Sensors Founded in 1967 by Robert C. Abbe, our capacitive sensor business was originally a part of ADE Corporation. ADE Corporation was renowned for its visionary and novel approaches to high resolution, non-contact measurement for demanding dimensional gaging applications. Over time, ADE grew to become the worlds leading supplier of tools for bare semiconductor wafer measurement. High resolution capacitive sensors for position and displacement measurement (also known as “cap gages”) became synonymous with “ADE” and our trademarked name, “MicroSense”.Based on patented capacitance sensing technology, we provide sensors used to make very precise, high bandwidth measurements of precision products such as hard disk drive motors, air bearing spindles, precision X-Y stages, optical disks, automotive parts and machine tools. Our capacitive displacement sensors provide the highest resolution in the industry, less than 0.05 nanometers, with virtually unlimited service life.Award Winning Tools for Magnetic Measurement The MicroSense magnetic metrology business was started as Digital Measurement Systems (DMS) over 25 years ago, and continued as a part of ADE Technologies since 1997.With our team of world class experts in magnetic property measurement, MicroSense is the leading supplier of high sensitivity Vibrating Sample Magnetometers for magnetic measurement. Our vibrating sample magnetometers are available in several models with a variety of capabilities, field ranges, resolutions and options. Our VSM systems are used for fundamental magnetic research at the most prestigious magnetics laboratories worldwide in both academic and commercial realms. A range of in-line, production magnetic metrology tools are also offered to meet the stringent demands of manufacturing todays rapidly advancing hard disk storage systems.

The goal was to provide precision optical comparators at an affordable price. Small machine shops needed to improve the quality of their parts. Most measurement and inspection systems on the market were too expensive for the average small shop. Micro-Vus first product was a portable optical comparator. Micro-Vu designed a special lens system that offered bright images at a low cost. The comparator was an instant success. Over the years, Micro-Vu expanded its product line to fill the needs of customers developing larger and more accurate measuring machines. In the 1970s Micro-Vu offered a full line of optical comparators with advanced features like thru-the-lens surface illumination and integrated digital readouts (DROs) In 1980, Micro-Vu introduced the first metrology computer designed specifically for optical comparators. The Q16 and its predecessor the MD-1, brought functionality to optical comparators that previously had been available only on coordinate measuring machines. The 1980s saw many other innovations such as video comparators, edge detectors, video inspections systems and the latest technology - machine vision systems. In 1988, Micro-Vu moved to a Windsor, California, in the heart of Northern Californias wine country. The 40,000 square foot facility contains sophisticated design and manufacturing operations. In 1992, Micro-Vu introduced InSpec Metrology Software. This easy-to-use program provided measuring systems with more power than ever before. ASME Y14.5 geometric tolerancing and program storage were just the start of the large feature set. In 1994, Micro-Vu introduced the Qubix Vision. High accuracy, low cost, and ease of use made this system extremely popular. Other characteristics made the Qubix the most celebrated machine in its class. As the worldwide push for quality grows, customers continue to demand faster, more accurate, and more capable systems. In 1996, Micro-Vu introduced its fastest, most accurate system. The Quantum measuring system is capable of 28 inches per second with accuracy better than a micron. The Quantum features air bearings, granite ways and linear servo motors, and has raised the standard of measuring systems. Micro-Vu continues to provide more measuring solutions. Micro-Vu has developed a line of probe ready vision measuring machines as well as Window 2000 software to take measurement into the next century. >> Back to Top

In pursuing this goal, the company has created a full line of FTIR products that are reliable, easy to use, and economical. The companys founder and President, Jerry Auth, brings a singular expertise in FTIR instrumentation to MIDAC. Jerrys work in the field began in 1965. Among other innovations, his efforts include pioneering the very first commercial FTIR instruments and the subsequent refining of specialized high resolution systems for the semiconductor industry. Recognizing the widespread need for economical and reliable instrumentation throughout the chemical industry, MIDAC introduced its first line of rugged, low-cost spectrometers in 1988. With innovations including monocoque construction, a compact and durable interferometer, and the use of a standard personal computer based data system, the MIDAC system was the first to make the analytical power of FTIR available to the average chemist. The current family of MIDAC products incorporates next-generation advancements in hardware and software specifically designed for high performance gas phase analysis. This includes a variety of application-specific solutions for industries including specialty gases, semiconductors, industrial hygiene, environmental, automotive, and general laboratory applications.
