The bag-type cadmium-nickel storage battery (hereinafter referred to as the "storage battery") can be divided into three types according to different applications (i.e., different discharge currents): low-rate, medium-rate and high-rate. The low-rate cadmium-nickel storage battery is suitable for discharging at a current less than 0.5ItA. The medium-rate cadmium-nickel storage battery is suitable for discharging at a current from 0.5ItA to 3.5ItA. The high-rate cadmium-nickel storage battery is suitable for discharging at a current from 3.5ItA to 7ItA. Under the condition of an ambient temperature of 20°C ± 5°C, after being charged according to the standard charging system, it can be used in an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 60°C (the capacities discharged at different temperatures are different).
Low-rate and medium-rate storage batteries are mainly used as standby power supplies or DC operating power supplies for devices such as power generation, telecommunications, railways, metallurgy, mining, lighting and UPS. They can also be used as energy storage batteries in systems such as wind power generation and solar power generation. High-rate cadmium-nickel storage batteries are mainly used as starting power supplies for diesel engines and DC motors, as well as DC power supplies for transportation vehicles.
