Although designed primarily for push broaching, the construction, capacity and precision of this press makes it ideal for a wide range of workshop applications. The bridge frame construction together with a ground ram running in a 140mm long honed bore provides extreme rigidity and excellent vertical alignment throughout the full stroke. The capstan type hand wheel facilitates continuous motion of the ram through a fully enclosed gearbox in the top casting. An adjustable friction pad prevents the ram dropping under its own weight, allowing the ram to be parked in any position. A hardened pad on the ram nose can be removed and replaced with special tooling, nosecaps etc. Reduction ratios can be selected by locking the hand wheel on alternative spindles. On the high reductions, continuous loads of 1.5 tonnes can be maintained on the ram with an applied load by the operator of 30kgf. Higher loads can be achieved with additional effort. The round slotted table is easily removed and two M12 tapped holes at 130mm centres are provided in the base for location of fixed tooling. A tubular guard is fitted on the surface of the top casting for operator safety and protection of the ram (Not illustrated). See 6559 for picture of similar guard fitted.
