Wedoany.com Report-Dec 02, The service, initially offering two weekly round trips, aims to strengthen intermodal logistics between Northern and Southern Italy.
Hannibal announces the launch of the new Melzo-Marcianise connection, which will operate from 3 December 2024. This service represents a step forward in the area's development strategy of intermodal logistics. It offers a sustainable solution to connect Northern and Southern Italy.
The Melzo-Marcianise service will include two round weekly trips between the Milan rail hub at Melzo and the Marcianise-Maddaloni terminal. The departures from Melzo will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while the departures from Marcianise will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays. From the first quarter of 2025, the frequency will be increased to three times a week. This will meet the growing demand for efficient and sustainable transport.
With a capacity of 32 units per train, the service will be able to carry all types of containers thanks to the use of low-loader wagons. Rail traction will be provided by Oceanogate, the Contship Group's specialist rail freight operator.
"With the new Melzo-Marcianise connection, we are able to offer transport solutions tailored to our customers' needs. Our flexibility in transporting a wide range of units and our value-added services, such as storage and transhipment of goods on trucks, allow us to adapt to the specific requirements of each shipment. Furthermore, we can complete the offer with efficient customs operations with containers on the ground, as well as first and last mile transport by truck," said Andrea Spagnuolo, Sales & Business Development Manager of Contship Italia.
