The device was first introduced at the CES show in January this year, and its release date and price have not yet been announced. From the hands-on experience at the event, the Razr Fold competes with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 in several aspects.
When folded, the Razr Fold measures 5.7 x 6.3 x 0.4 inches; unfolded, it is 6.3 x 2.9 x 0.2 inches, weighing 8.6 ounces, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It comes in two color options: Midnight Blue and Lily White. The front screen uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, with protection ratings of IP48 and IP49.
In terms of displays, the Razr Fold features a 6.6-inch cover screen and an 8.1-inch inner screen, with peak brightness reaching 6000 nits and 6200 nits, respectively. It also supports the Motorola Pen Ultra stylus for writing on both screens, whereas the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has removed stylus support.
The camera system is a highlight of the Razr Fold, featuring three 50-megapixel rear lenses that support 3x optical zoom and 100x Super Zoom. DXOMark has rated it as the top camera system for foldable phones in North America. It has a 6000mAh battery capacity and supports 80W wired charging, which is faster than the Galaxy Z Fold 7's 25W.
In terms of performance, the Razr Fold is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. On-site tests showed smooth operation, but pricing details are still pending. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 starts at $1999.99, and the launch of Motorola's foldable phone may prompt the market to reassess the competitive landscape.
