Wedoany.com Report on Mar 18th, Recently, ShipMatrix, under Pittsburgh-based SJ Consulting, released its 2025 U.S. domestic parcel market report, showing that total parcel volume reached a new high of 23.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%. Total market revenue was $196 billion, growing by 4.1%. The average daily parcel processing volume was approximately 91 million, with each adult receiving an average of 95 packages annually.

The report indicates that the three major carriers—FedEx, UPS, and the United States Postal Service (USPS)—drove rate increases. In terms of revenue, UPS led with $58.3 billion, followed by FedEx at $51.7 billion, Amazon Logistics at $40.5 billion, and USPS at $32.5 billion.

Regarding parcel volume market share, non-traditional carriers held 13.0%, while Amazon Logistics accounted for 9.9%, delivering 6.7 billion parcels. FedEx's parcel volume grew by 5.2% to 3.6 billion, whereas UPS and USPS both declined by 8.6%, with volumes of 4.4 billion and 6.7 billion parcels, respectively.

Satish Jindel, President of ShipMatrix, stated in an interview: "The 0.4% annual parcel volume growth was originally projected to be closer to 1.5% to 2%, but the reduced number of working days in 2025 affected the figures. However, we forecast that the U.S. parcel market will grow by 3.9% over the next three years, reaching 26.8 billion parcels by 2028."

Jindel believes that changes in consumer shopping patterns are the primary driver of growth. He said: "Social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram are boosting online shopping, particularly among younger demographics. At the same time, reduced in-store inventory at retailers like Home Depot or Walmart, where consumers may not find items listed on websites, is driving more online orders."

The ShipMatrix report also highlights that B2C shipping activities accounted for 75% of the market in 2025, a significant increase from 10% in 1985. FedEx and UPS are adjusting their strategies to focus on the B2B segment and high-value B2C parcels.

The report concludes that although parcel market growth is slow, technological advancements and shifts in consumer habits will continue to drive the expansion of the U.S. domestic parcel market, with stable growth expected in the coming years.
