en.Wedoany.com Reported - Australian technology company Xefco has shipped its first commercial Ausora® system from its manufacturing base in Geelong to Indonesia, marking what the company calls the world's first commercial-scale deployment of a plasma-based waterless textile dyeing machine. The waterless textile dyeing system eliminates water usage in the textile dyeing process while reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Xefco states that the Ausora® waterless textile dyeing system employs plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition technology operating at atmospheric pressure, treating fabrics in a continuous roll-to-roll process to achieve pigment embedding, fixation, and functional coating application in a single step. The company claims the technology can reduce energy use by approximately 90%, cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 94%, and completely eliminate wastewater discharge.

Xefco CEO Tom Hussey said: "The water-intensive processes currently used to impart color and functional finishes to fabrics carry the highest costs and compliance burdens in the textile supply chain." He added that confirmed orders have been placed for 12 units, with active installations underway in Indonesia, Vietnam, and other locations. Indonesia was chosen as the first market because it is a major apparel manufacturing hub with over 3.7 million workers.

Xefco was founded based on research outcomes from Deakin University, with a team of 47 people distributed across multiple countries. The company aims to deploy 200 systems globally within five years, which is expected to support approximately 300 jobs and $200 million in manufacturing activity in Geelong. Each module can process up to 2.2 million meters of fabric annually, and the modular design facilitates easy scaling. Xefco is exploring further financing opportunities in the second half of 2026.
