Wedoany.com Report on Mar 19th, Amcor provides customized tethered caps for the Austrian mineral water brand Vöslauer Mineralwasser, aiming to enhance functionality, ease of use, and recyclability. This move responds to the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, which requires single-use bottles with a capacity of up to 3 liters to be equipped with tethered caps to reduce littering and promote recycling.
The tethered cap is designed to open at a wide angle, remain fixed in place, and keep the bottle away from the face, ensuring drinking comfort while being easy to reseal for a convenient experience. Vöslauer is the first Austrian company to adopt Amcor's Secure Flip sports cap, which opens up to 180 degrees for easy access to the spout, features a non-removable tamper-evident band and an ergonomic thumb tab, enabling one-handed operation.
Mag. Yvonne Haider-Lenz of Vöslauer Mineralwasser stated: "We value our long-standing partnership with Amcor, which supports our sustainability commitments. Our commitment to quality is equally evident in our packaging and product." Sarah de la Mare, Caps Product Line Director at Amcor Rigids Packaging Solutions International, added: "Caps play a crucial role in beverage packaging, protecting the product and ensuring safe, convenient access, which influences brand perception. We are delighted to collaborate with Vöslauer on developing innovative solutions."
Previously, Amcor partnered with Spadel to create a recyclable tethered cap for the premium water brand Wattwiller, designed with ease of use in mind. Pont Packaging also launched a tethered cap system for its Petpackers series that complies with EU recycling guidelines. Tethered caps have faced some feedback in recent years regarding design comfort and accessibility issues, but the industry is addressing these through innovative improvements.
