en.Wedoany.com Reported - Dubai-based Astro Offshore recently acquired a 2021-built multi-purpose support vessel to enhance its ultra-deepwater operational capabilities. Originally named Energy Savanah and transferred from Golden Energy Offshore, the vessel will be renamed Astro Atlas.

The Astro Atlas is a 97-meter-long DP2-class vessel equipped with a 150-ton subsea active heave compensation crane, an integrated moonpool, and other facilities. It can support tasks such as subsea construction, cable laying, and pipeline installation. With an operational depth exceeding 3,000 meters, this vessel marks Astro Offshore's first entry into the ultra-deepwater sector, enabling it to undertake more technically complex and higher-value offshore projects.

Mark Humphreys, CEO of Astro Offshore, stated, "The introduction of Astro Atlas significantly enhances our operational capabilities. As the largest vessel in our fleet, she enables us to support a wider range of complex offshore operations and respond more effectively to our clients' needs."

The vessel will be deployed through a long-term charter agreement in collaboration with Oceaneering International Inc., combining the expertise of both parties in subsea engineering and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to execute construction and intervention tasks in deepwater environments. This partnership is expected to strengthen Astro Offshore's operational capabilities in the European market, marking the company's expansion from the Middle East into broader international regions.

Astro Offshore is an offshore service provider in which the Adani Group holds an 80% stake. This acquisition is part of its fleet expansion strategy, and the Astro Atlas will become the largest vessel in the company's fleet.
