AGI Greenpac Aluminum Can Plant Groundbreaking Ceremony

The aluminum can plant spans 34 acres and is scheduled to commence production in the first half of 2027. Initially, two production lines will be installed with an annual capacity of 1.6 billion cans, targeting an initial output of 1.3 billion cans per year. Through optimization, each line can be upgraded to produce 1 billion cans annually, potentially pushing the total capacity beyond 2 billion cans. The plant will manufacture standard, sleek, and slim aluminum cans for categories including carbonated soft drinks, beer, energy drinks, and ready-to-drink beverages.

AGI Greenpac CEO Rajesh Khosla stated: "This investment reflects our strong confidence in India's growth trajectory and the immense opportunities within the domestic packaging sector. The Uttar Pradesh plant is a testament to AGI Greenpac's commitment to building future-ready infrastructure to meet evolving market demands."

The Hathras aluminum can plant is designed to achieve a Platinum rating under India's green building framework, with resource efficiency and energy optimization integrated throughout the design. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable without quality loss, aligning with circular economy goals. The plant's proximity to consumer markets in northern and central India enables faster turnaround and reduced logistics costs. The company's existing business in glass containers allows for customer synergy, positioning it as an integrated packaging partner for beverage manufacturers.

According to the company, the current domestic aluminum can production capacity in India is approximately 3.9 billion cans per year, with double-digit growth expected, driven by premiumization, rising urban consumption, and the shift towards sustainable packaging. AGI Greenpac's six decades of packaging experience lay the foundation for its entry into this market segment.
