en.Wedoany.com Reported - To address current challenges and showcase the region's full potential, the Atacama Regional Development Corporation (Corporación para el Desarrollo de la Región de Atacama, Corproa) has launched the first Industrial Expo of Huasco Province (Expo Industrial de la provincia de Huasco). The expo aims to connect the local supply of goods and services with the demands of contracting companies, fostering business opportunities, local supplier development, and technology transfer.

The launch ceremony was attended by Vallenar Mayor Víctor Isla, Freirina Mayor Fernando Ruhl, and Huasco Mayor Rigoberto Briceño; directors of Corproa; President of the Atacama Mining Cluster Eduardo Pesenti; representatives of local trade unions; representatives of Corproa member companies, and special guests. Corproa emphasized that Huasco Province concentrates mining, energy, and port activities crucial to Atacama. Vallenar Mayor Víctor Isla stated that productive development is a shared aspiration that must be achieved through public-private collaboration, and that the province urgently needs development in all aspects to help residents attain a higher quality of life and more decent employment, thus fully supporting this platform that promotes technological development and productive innovation. Freirina Mayor Fernando Ruhl pointed out that Freirina possesses a large amount of non-conventional renewable energy, which must be given its due support and value through Corproa, with community involvement.

This expo originated from the needs of Huasco Province members and Corproa's fieldwork, aiming to create an exchange platform where the province's industrial ecosystem can demonstrate its full potential, innovative capacity, and ability to tackle current challenges. President of the Atacama Mining Cluster Eduardo Pesenti stated that the cluster has 17 contracting mining companies that can participate in business matchmaking sessions and contribute to the industrial chain, which will drive the economy of Huasco Province. Corproa's Deputy Manager of Corporate Events, Juan Carlos Catalán, presented the expo details: it will feature 50 booths, five outdoor areas for displaying machinery and services, and a dedicated space for six small and medium-sized enterprises from the province. One of the core activities is the Business Roundtable (Rueda de Negocios), designed to facilitate direct meetings between suppliers and contracting companies, creating business opportunities. Corproa President Juan José Ronsecco stated that Corproa's mission is to decentralize development and promote progress in every corner of the region, hoping that this expo will strengthen suppliers, promote technology transfer, and establish Huasco Province as a leading industrial development hub in Atacama.

The Expo Industrial de la Provincia de Huasco 2026 will be held on August 11 and 12 at the Deportivo Algarrobo venue of Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), a member company of Corproa.
