en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indian state-owned shipbuilder Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has held a keel-laying ceremony for the fourth vessel in a series of 12 multipurpose (MPP) ships for German owner Carsten Rehder.

The two companies signed a contract for the first four MPP ships in June 2024, subsequently expanding the order to a total of twelve vessels.

The Coral 7500 DWT series includes project-named Coral 7500 DWT MPV, with a hull length of 120 meters, a beam of 17 meters, a draft of 5.85 meters, and a cargo capacity of 7,500 tons. The design features a single large cargo hold, optimized for bulk, general, and project cargoes.

The final contract signed in September 2025 stipulates that the 9th to 12th vessels in the series will be built as advanced hybrid propulsion MPVs, representing a key technology upgrade for the fleet.

The Coral 7500 DWT series is being developed as a collaborative maritime project. Actual construction takes place in India, with the project working closely with several German maritime companies, including F.H. Bertling, ForestWave Navigation/Schulte & Bruns, and Delft Shipping.

Technical design expertise is provided by SEDS in conjunction with GRSE. To ensure compliance with international maritime standards, classification and certification for the entire 12-vessel fleet is overseen by Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

Earlier this year, GRSE commenced construction of the third vessel in the series for Carsten Rehder.
