Wedoany.com Report-Feb 17, An innovative floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel, equipped with a groundbreaking carbon capture and storage system, has been constructed in Shanghai. This vessel is a world-first and is expected to be delivered by the end of February.

The impressive FPSO measures 333 meters in length and 60 meters in width, with a daily crude oil production capacity of up to 120,000 barrels. What sets this vessel apart is its unique capability to capture carbon dioxide emissions not only from the oil production process but also from navigation. Furthermore, it harnesses the heat energy from exhaust gases to produce electricity, thereby achieving both environmental protection and energy efficiency.

Offshore oil and gas operations are notorious for their high carbon dioxide emissions. The integration of a carbon capture and storage facility onto such vessels presents a promising approach to minimizing emissions from offshore production and processing activities. This innovation marks a significant step towards more sustainable offshore operations.
