TMC Secures Contract for Large Compressed Air System Supply for FPSO in Guyana

The contract requires TMC to provide a complete large compressed air system, including air compressors, air dryers, filters, and a control system, to meet the higher air quality requirements for utility and instrument air users on board this FPSO.

The Essequibo 1899 FPSO will be deployed using a spread mooring system approximately 200 kilometers offshore Guyana. Hans-Petter Tanum, Sales and Business Development Director at TMC, stated that when equipment is transported to such a remote offshore location, fewer personnel on board is more beneficial for the operator's operational expenditure and environmental footprint. Therefore, TMC will provide compressors that can be maintained by the vessel's own crew without the need for external service technicians.

Tanum also noted that TMC's compressors are built on a single technology platform, featuring low energy consumption, low operating costs, and low air emissions.

The company's philosophy is to design and manufacture compressors exclusively for marine and offshore applications, resulting in higher reliability compared to products originally developed for onshore use and later adapted for marine purposes. Tanum added that TMC compressors have been manufactured using this approach for 30 years, with a design life matching that of the FPSO.

This FPSO will be deployed at the Hammerhead oil field offshore Guyana, with an initial average production capacity of 150,000 barrels of oil per day. This is the second FPSO in Guyana to be equipped with TMC's marine compressed air system.

The Hammerhead project is expected to be the seventh of multiple developments in the Stabroek block, located approximately 200 kilometers offshore Guyana in water depths of about 1,025 meters. TMC, headquartered in Oslo, Norway, did not disclose the contract value.
