DSIC Starts Building Wah Kwong’s 175,000 Cbm LNG Vessel
Wedoany.com Report-Mar 7, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), has started building Hong Kong-based Wah Kwong’s second LNG vessel G175K-13.
A steel-cutting ceremony was held at DSIC’s shipyard on March 6, 2025, Wah Kwong revealed on social media, adding that the event marked a “step forward in our commitment to energy transition together with our partners.”
The G175K-13 is, reportedly, the second of the four newbuildings of 175,000 cbm by the joint venture partnership between China Gas, Wah Kwong and CSSC.
As disclosed, it will operate under a 20-year charter with China Gas and represents the second addition to Wah Kwong’s dual-fuel fleet.
It is understood that the four vessels employ the Mark III Flex cargo containment system developed by GTT and come equipped with four cargo tanks. Each unit incorporates two WinGD LNG dual-fuel low-speed main engines, coupled with the integration of the iCER system.
Additional features include an “optimized twin-stern line, high-efficiency propellers, and rudders with bulbous bow.” With the inclusion of four dual-fuel generators, the design is said to be optimized to cater to power load demands across various operational scenarios.
