en.Wedoany.com Reported - Denison Gas Ltd. has discovered a new natural gas field at the Baffle Creek field in the onshore Denison Trough of the Bowen Basin in central Queensland.

Denison's latest four-well exploration program has confirmed significant tight gas resources in deep sandstone reservoirs. Two of the wells, located north of Roma, have commenced gas production and are supplying the Boyne Island aluminum smelter.

Baffle Creek 7, recently completed, is one of Queensland's longest horizontal tight gas wells. Fracture stimulation and testing of the well are scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, with the produced gas to be connected to nearby pipelines to supply the east coast gas market.

Denison is among the first companies to connect pilot wells to commercial pipelines rather than flaring them to reduce emissions.

The potential scale of the Baffle Creek discovery was initially estimated at 566 petajoules, prompting Denison to plan a doubling of its gas processing plant and condensate storage capacity within the next 12 months.

The Crisafulli Government reported that this new onshore gas discovery also produces high-quality crude oil, which can supply the east coast market.
