en.Wedoany.com Reported - P2X Solutions, a Finnish pioneer in green hydrogen and synthetic fuels, has established a long-term partnership with avanca Energy AG, one of Europe's largest renewable LNG platforms, and its subsidiaries avanca Renewables AG and Alternoil GmbH, to supply synthetic methane to the latter.

Under the agreement, P2X Solutions will deliver synthetic methane to avanca/Alternoil starting in October 2026, with both parties planning to significantly expand the scope of their commercial cooperation thereafter, including a target of increasing delivery volumes tenfold compared to 2026 levels.

Synthetic methane is an e-fuel with a composition identical to the transport gas currently in use, enabling a complete shift away from fossil fuels in road and maritime transport, and is therefore regarded as a key solution for reducing emissions.

P2X Solutions produces synthetic methane at its methanation plant in Harjavalta, Finland, using a process that further processes the company's own green hydrogen with captured carbon dioxide. The first phase of the partnership focuses on clean fuel for heavy-duty trucks, with the e-LNG supplied by P2X Solutions to be made directly available to heavy vehicles through avanca/Alternoil's renewable REEFUEL network. avanca/Alternoil plans to offer the first commercial e-LNG to customers in 2026.

avanca Renewables AG, as a renewable fuels company, manages its portfolio by procuring bio-LNG and e-methane and coordinating partnerships across the European upstream production sector. Alternoil operates Germany's largest renewable LNG distribution network, comprising 56 filling stations and over 120 refueling points, available nationwide around the clock. avanca Energy AG and its subsidiaries together cover the entire process from production to refueling, supported by nationwide buffer inventories and logistics backed by an in-house maintenance team.

Jürgen Muhle, CEO and Chairman of the Board of avanca Energy AG, stated that the long-term supply partnership with P2X Solutions strategically secures e-LNG procurement, integrating more green energy into European logistics chains in a predictable manner, while ensuring economic security of supply, strengthening the company's market position across the entire value chain, and sending a strong signal for expanding climate-friendly alternatives in the energy market.

Herkko Plit, founder and CEO of P2X Solutions, stated that the partnership with avanca marks a pivotal moment for e-methane. The plant is already operational, deliveries will begin within months, and together the two companies will strengthen Europe's energy self-sufficiency, producing clean fuels on an industrial scale to power heavy-duty trucks in the region.

In terms of market demand, Germany decided in May 2026 to introduce a mandatory 10% quota for green hydrogen and synthetic fuels in road transport by 2040, as part of the country's plan to comply with the EU's RED III Directive. The market demand generated by this German decision alone is already substantial compared to current production capacity. Plit stated that Germany is providing a reference for other EU countries with predictable, ambitious, and feasible regulatory measures, which other member states will follow when implementing their own measures. Meanwhile, there is an urgent need to expand clean fuel production capacity, and several European pioneer companies have already shown interest in the Finnish producer, creating excellent export opportunities for Finland, given the country's favorable conditions for producing green hydrogen and synthetic fuels.
