en.Wedoany.com Reported - On June 24, 2026, ACCESS Co., Ltd. announced that it has been awarded a research project by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), titled "Research and Survey Contract for the Deployment of 'All-Photonics Network (APN)' Technology for Overseas AI Data Centers." The company plans to leverage the expertise of its U.S. subsidiary, IP Infusion, in optical communication technology and open network operating systems, as well as its partnerships with telecommunications operators worldwide, to carry out this survey.

With the growing demand for generative AI and cloud services, global investment in AI data centers has surged significantly. However, the AI data center communication equipment market is increasingly dependent on proprietary solutions from specific GPU vendors, resulting in an oligopolistic situation. This has made it difficult for Japanese companies, which have advantages in optical transmission, to enter the AI data center equipment market.

ACCESS and IP Infusion aim to eliminate vendor lock-in and diversify the supply chain by promoting the deployment of open network operating systems in AI data centers and the application of APN, thereby creating market entry opportunities for Japanese companies. At the same time, distributed AI data centers leveraging the high capacity, low latency, and low power consumption characteristics of APN are expected to serve as a demonstration model for addressing Japan's domestic issues such as land constraints, power supply, disaster response, and renewable energy challenges, and to be promoted overseas.

The survey will validate three application scenarios: "External Connection of AI Data Centers," "Internal Connection of AI Data Centers," and "Distributed AI Data Center Solutions." Through these validations, the project aims to accelerate the introduction of APN technology into the AI data center market.
