en.Wedoany.com Reported - Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries (NSE: RELIANCE), announced at its 49th Annual General Meeting plans to introduce multiple generative AI features for its ecosystem. Jio CEO Akash Ambani outlined ambitious AI initiatives at the meeting that will enhance the overall functionality of its services. One core product is Jio Call Agent, a native AI voice assistant that integrates into Jio's cellular services without requiring any app installation, making it accessible to every Jio customer.

With approximately 524 million active cellular users, this feature is considered one of the telecom company's most ambitious projects. Akash Ambani stated that the native AI agent is planned to be integrated into its cellular network by the end of 2026 and will be completely free for Jio customers.
To activate the agent, users need to say "Hey Jio" and first grant the agent permission to join the call. The Jio AI Call Agent can interact directly with users and is trained to communicate in any native Indian language. The agent can transcribe voice calls and identify up to 10 different speakers in a single conference call, aiding in transcribing office team meetings. Additionally, the call agent can summarize call content and perform operational tasks, including setting reminders, booking taxis, ordering food, and reserving restaurant seats. Users must first consent to the Jio AI agent's requests.
Unlike other large language model providers that rely on subscription plans, Jio uses its self-developed Reliance Intelligence system. This system, described as a "Made-in-India AI system," is developed and processed entirely within India.
To accelerate the expansion of its AI footprint, Reliance Industries is developing India's sovereign AI backbone in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This infrastructure will be powered by clean energy from Reliance's own solar power plant in Kutch, with the first 120 megawatts of electricity planned to be operational by the end of 2026. Additionally, Jio is advancing other projects such as satellite communications, aiming to connect every user across the country, covering both rural and urban areas.
