In 2025, Vietnam's total import and export value of goods exceeded 930 billion USD. Coupled with a network of free trade agreements covering the globe, the country is transitioning from a transit point to a supply chain organization hub.
Pei Boyan, a senior specialist at the Import-Export Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, believes that this proposal elevates logistics from a supporting service to a strategic component of national competitiveness. If the strategic content is implemented synchronously, Vietnam has the potential to become a crucial link in the ASEAN logistics system and gradually deepen its participation in the global logistics network.
In its future logistics development orientation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has clearly defined tiers, forming national, regional, and local logistics centers, as well as specialized logistics centers and collection points. This layout aims to avoid duplicate investment and inefficient operations, creating large-scale hubs capable of connecting with regional and global logistics chains.
Opportunities from Green and Smart Logistics
Bui Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Management and Development Department, stated that developing a modern logistics center network system in the direction of green, smart, tiered, and interconnected development will greatly boost national competitiveness.
Nguyen Le Hang, Head of Department and Director of External Affairs at SLP Vietnam, pointed out that developing logistics centers and green logistics has become an inevitable trend. Enterprises that proactively invest or cooperate with modern green logistics infrastructure developers have the opportunity to deeply engage in supply chain management, shifting from low-price competition to competition based on service quality, speed, and international standards.
Enterprises can also serve growth areas such as e-commerce, cold chain logistics, and express delivery. A green investment orientation helps enhance attractiveness to investors and banks, making it easier to access the financial resources needed for development.
