These vehicles will be used in scenarios such as long-haul freight, bulk commodity transport, and port logistics.

In comparison, the company's autonomous driving target for light commercial vehicles is even larger: by 2030, it plans to have 100,000 autonomous light-duty trucks on the road.

Pony.AI entered the autonomous trucking business in 2018, with early vehicles largely being handcrafted prototypes. Through subsequent collaboration with truck manufacturers, it has gradually moved closer to automotive-grade mass production. Cost is a key factor in determining when to scale up. The autonomous driving hardware cost of the fourth-generation heavy-duty truck has dropped by approximately 70% compared to the previous generation, with a designed service life of 20,000 operating hours or up to 1 million kilometers.

The achievement of the above goals depends on the simultaneous maturation of multiple conditions, including more powerful autonomous driving systems, lower hardware costs, redundant vehicle platforms that meet automotive-grade standards, and in-depth cooperation with vehicle manufacturers and logistics operators.
