en.Wedoany.com Reported - Anthropic has entered into a multi-faceted strategic agreement with U.S. memory chip manufacturer Micron Technology. Under the agreement, Micron will deploy the Claude AI model to optimize oversight of certain parts of its infrastructure stack, while also providing financial support to Anthropic through an investment. Neither party disclosed the investment amount or specific supply terms.
The expansion of AI inference clusters is facing bottlenecks in memory bandwidth and storage latency. Anthropic operates large-scale inference clusters, and its telemetry data on HBM bandwidth, DRAM capacity, and SSD latency can help Micron understand real-world constraints and optimize product design. The core of the collaboration lies in using Claude to process this data, thereby generating actionable memory and storage optimization solutions.
Tom Brown, co-founder and chief computing officer of Anthropic, stated that computing strategy relies on optimization at every layer of the stack, and memory and storage are crucial for training and serving Claude. Partnering with Micron allows for tight system optimization and ensures supply, which is part of its long-term scaling of computing capabilities.
Following the announcement of the agreement, Micron's stock price rose by approximately 6%. The two companies did not mention collaboration in the field of computational storage in the announcement, although this technology is becoming a core theme for AI inference workloads. Nvidia launched the Inference Context Memory Storage Platform at CES 2026, utilizing the BlueField-4 data processing unit to extend GPU KV cache to NVMe SSDs.

Micron is highly profitable in the HBM market, and computational storage solutions could directly undermine its most lucrative product line. Anthropic has already reached agreements with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, SpaceX, Broadcom, Microsoft, and CoreWeave to secure computing power and corresponding storage needs. The development of its next-generation consumer-level AI model, Fable 5, is back on the agenda, and Anthropic has established a strategic commitment with Nvidia to obtain its AI hardware solutions.
This investment model has precedents in the AI field, such as Microsoft providing computing resources and cash to OpenAI in exchange for equity, and Nvidia making similar commitments with multiple AI companies and data center firms.
