Sony, NEC, and Others Establish Voice AR Alliance in Japan
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sony Marketing, Shobunsha Holdings, and NEC jointly announced on July 8, 2026, the establishment of the "Voice AR Alliance," a co-creation organization centered on voice AR (Augmented Reality) technology. The alliance aims to promote regional revitalization and address social issues through tourism digital transformation (DX), disaster prevention, and education. By leveraging the expertise of participating companies, it seeks to explore new auditory-based experiences and establish this model as a next-generation social infrastructure.
Voice AR is a technology that delivers voice content based on location information. By using appropriately anonymized location data, it enables visualization of pedestrian flow, which can be applied to encourage tourist circulation and study congestion mitigation measures. The alliance will utilize multilingual voice guides and entertainment content to offer tourists opportunities to rediscover the charm of attractions, while also implementing measures to alleviate overtourism and support regional revitalization.
In disaster prevention, the alliance contributes to disaster risk reduction by providing experiential evacuation training content and multilingual response solutions. In education, it will offer "inquiry-based learning" courses that convert local history and culture into voice content, aiming to enhance students' understanding of their regions and digital literacy.
Sony Marketing, Shobunsha Holdings, and NEC serve as the lead companies of the alliance. In addition to these three, nine other organizations have joined: Caritas, Service Marketing, the General Incorporated Association Touristship, the International University of Technology and Engineering, Micle, the Japan Ninja Council, ima, JTB, and NTT West Japan VOICENCE Company.
