Headquartered in the United States, Clever Devices employs over 600 people and is expected to generate revenue exceeding $220 million by 2026. Hitachi Rail stated that the transaction expands its presence in the public mobility sector and strengthens its business footprint in North America.
Following the acquisition, Hitachi has expanded its product portfolio under the HMAX Mobility digital asset management platform, introducing artificial intelligence technology into multimodal transportation networks. Clever's solutions are designed to help public transit agencies improve fleet management, passenger experience, and operational efficiency. The company holds contracts in bus, rail, and paratransit services. In addition to its strong market position in North America, Clever has achieved business growth in markets including Brazil, Chile, and Europe, including Italy.
Giuseppe Marino, CEO of Hitachi Rail Group, stated that this is a key step in advancing the digital transformation strategy for public transportation, combining Clever Devices' capabilities in intelligent transportation systems with Hitachi's global reach and the HMAX Mobility solution suite. Through this acquisition, Hitachi has expanded its business beyond railways, strengthened its presence in North America, and laid the foundation for developing more integrated, sustainable, and efficient transportation networks for cities.
As part of the integration, Frank Antonysamy has been appointed CEO of Clever. He previously served as Chief Growth Officer at Hitachi Digital, where he led the launch of Hitachi's industrial AI portfolio. In his new role, Antonysamy will focus on accelerating growth, strengthening market positioning, and creating long-term value for the Clever Devices business.
