Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 25, OeMAG, Austria’s energy agency, has introduced its 2025 rebate program to support rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems, aimed at homeowners and businesses. The initiative, funded under the Renewable Energy Expansion Act (EAG), offers financial incentives to promote solar energy adoption across various system sizes and includes support for energy storage.

For PV systems up to 10 kilowatts, eligible applicants can receive a rebate of €160 per kilowatt, with €5 million allocated for this category. Systems between 10 and 20 kilowatts qualify for €150 per kilowatt, also backed by €5 million. For systems ranging from 20 to 100 kilowatts, €15 million is available at €140 per kilowatt. Larger systems exceeding 100 kilowatts are supported with €15 million at €130 per kilowatt. Additionally, energy storage systems are eligible for a fixed rebate of €150 per kilowatt-hour.

The first application period for these rebates is open until May 8. Of the €60 million total budget, €40 million has already been committed, representing two-thirds of the program’s funding for 2025. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy provides the funds, which OeMAG distributes as investment grants to encourage renewable energy development.

A second funding round will introduce a “Made in Europe” bonus, offering a 20% increase in rebates for PV and storage systems that use components manufactured in Europe. This round will allocate €12 million, with an additional €8 million reserved for a third funding call in October. The funding structure reflects current budget limitations and evolving energy priorities, according to the government.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy stated: “The goal is to use public funds more specifically where they make a tangible contribution to the energy transition. The focus in the future will be more on the effectiveness of the measures, with a focus on system-friendly, efficient, and grid-friendly technologies.” This approach aims to align financial support with technologies that enhance grid stability and energy efficiency.

The rebate program underscores Austria’s commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure and supporting sustainable development. By offering targeted incentives, OeMAG seeks to make solar power more accessible and encourage the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies.
