Wedoany.com Report-May 4, Russia’s JSC ENA has successfully delivered 16 advanced pumps to units 3 and 4 of India’s Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). The pumps, identified as AKA-Zh 200-200-250-K-5-T4, belong to safety class 2 and quality assurance category QA2. They are integral to the refrigeration system that supports critical operations, ensuring the plant’s stable and safe performance.
This delivery marks a significant milestone for JSC ENA, which has been a trusted supplier of pumping equipment to Kudankulam NPP for over two decades. Notably, this project introduced pumps of safety class 2 for the first time at Kudankulam. The manufacturing process adhered to stringent oversight by an authorized organization and representatives from the customer, IKAEL, at every stage. These pumps are also the most efficient supplied to the plant, boasting a nominal flow rate of 472 cubic meters per hour.
Founded in 1992, JSC ENA traces its origins to the Shchelkovsky Pump Plant, established in 1932. The company is a prominent Russian manufacturer of centrifugal pumps, catering to various industries, including nuclear power plants and naval applications. Since the 1950s, JSC ENA has specialized in producing pumps of safety classes II and III for nuclear facilities, maintaining a strong reputation for reliability and quality.
The successful delivery of these high-performance pumps underscores JSC ENA’s expertise and commitment to supporting critical infrastructure projects like the Kudankulam NPP, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of India’s nuclear energy sector.
