Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 27, Balfour Beatty, an infrastructure group, has secured an $889 million contract from the Texas Department of Transportation to rebuild a 3.7km section of Interstate 30 (I-30) on the east side of Dallas County, Texas. The project aims to enhance transportation infrastructure in the region.

Upon completion, the project will double the number of general-purpose lanes from six to twelve.

The initiative will expand I-30 from six to 12 general-purpose lanes, improving traffic efficiency and connectivity in Dallas. Additionally, the project includes constructing nine crossings to link I-30 with key infrastructure developments, such as the Southern Gateway, I-35E Lowest Stemmons, and The Horseshoe, all previously completed by Balfour Beatty for the Texas Department of Transportation over the past five years.

Preconstruction work is scheduled to begin in 2026, with the project expected to be completed within five years. This timeline reflects careful planning to ensure minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.

Balfour Beatty Group chief executive Leo Quinn stated: “This contract award marks a significant milestone in Balfour Beatty’s 30-year partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation and our proven track record of successful project delivery. With decades of experience executing complex roadway projects in Dallas and an in-depth understanding of the region’s infrastructure, we are uniquely positioned to deliver these essential improvements. This work will not only enhance connectivity and reduce congestion but also foster long-term economic growth and opportunity across the region.”

This contract builds on Balfour Beatty’s recent work in Texas, including a $746 million project awarded in November 2024 to reconstruct a section of Interstate 35 in Austin. The company also began construction on the Northern Virginia Science Center in Dulles, Virginia, last month, demonstrating its active role in advancing infrastructure across the United States.

The I-30 project is expected to support smoother transportation and contribute to economic development in Dallas by improving access and reducing travel times. Balfour Beatty’s ongoing collaboration with the Texas Department of Transportation underscores its commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions.
