Cadillac 2027 Escalade Starting Price Breaks $100,000 for the First Time

Cadillac confirmed that the 1SA version, along with rear-wheel-drive Platinum Luxury and Platinum Sport trims, will be removed for the 2027 model year.

The revised 2027 Escalade lineup is streamlined to Luxury (available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive), Sport (available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive), Platinum Luxury (four-wheel drive only), Platinum Sport (four-wheel drive only), and the top-tier Escalade-V with standard all-wheel drive. For reference, the 2026 Escalade 1SA two-wheel-drive version started at $93,995, while the higher-tier Luxury version already started at $104,995. If Cadillac maintains its current pricing strategy, the 2027 Escalade's starting price will exceed $100,000. Additionally, the removal of rear-wheel-drive options from the Platinum series, making all-wheel drive standard across the lineup, effectively represents a price increase of approximately $3,000 for higher-end models.

The price adjustment widens the gap between the Escalade and its competitors. The 2026 Escalade started at $895 less than the Lincoln Navigator of the same year, but Lincoln has lowered the starting price of the 2027 Navigator to $92,890. With the elimination of the 1SA trim, the 2027 Escalade will be at least $10,000 more expensive than the Navigator. Imported luxury SUV competitors also have lower starting prices: the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS is expected to start under $100,000, the BMW X7 starts at $89,050, and the Infiniti QX80 starts at $87,835.

The Escalade holds an advantage in performance. The 2026 model has a maximum towing capacity of 8,100 pounds, surpassing the Mercedes-Benz GLS (7,700 pounds) and BMW X7 (7,500 pounds). The 55-inch curved display spanning the dashboard is highly distinctive in its class. The 2027 model is expected to retain the exterior design, lighting system, and technical features introduced in the 2025 mid-cycle refresh.

In terms of ownership costs, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency data, the Escalade's best fuel economy figures are 15 miles per gallon in the city, 19 miles per gallon on the highway, and 17 miles per gallon combined, with the worst figures being 14, 18, and 16 miles per gallon, respectively. According to CarEdge estimates, fuel costs over five years amount to approximately $13,590, insurance costs over five years total around $20,000 (about $4,000 per year), with higher premiums for high-performance or extended-wheelbase versions. Maintenance costs over the first five years are approximately $4,803, about $1,657 lower than the average for luxury SUVs in the same class.

On the production front, dealer ordering is expected to open in late July 2026, with mass production scheduled to begin on September 8 at General Motors' Arlington Assembly plant in Texas. This could be the final model year for the gasoline-powered Escalade produced at the Arlington plant. According to GM's previously announced manufacturing strategy, production of the 2028 gasoline-powered Escalade will move to the Orion Assembly plant in Michigan.

The 2027 Escalade will also eliminate torque value badges on some trims, as these identifiers caused confusion among consumers. The new model adds a Sandstone exterior color while discontinuing Magnus Metal Frost and Aegean Stone. The vehicle supports digital key functionality and trailer tire pressure monitoring.
