Alexandria Port Handles 167,000 Tons of Cargo in 24 Hours

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Alexandria Port Authority reported that the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila handled nearly 167,000 tons of cargo over the past 24 hours, during which 11 vessels arrived and 7 departed.

According to Ahmed Bureiqa, spokesperson for the Port Authority, a total of 42 vessels were docked at the port terminals during the reporting period, with all operational and technical departments functioning normally. The smooth movement of vessels reflects the port's operational efficiency and adherence to scheduled maritime timetables.

Bureiqa stated that all operational entities at the port are working collaboratively to accelerate loading and unloading operations and reduce vessel waiting times. These efforts aim to enhance the port's competitiveness and the quality of services provided to international shipping companies.

Over the past 24 hours, the two ports handled approximately 167,000 tons of cargo, including about 28,000 tons of exports and 139,000 tons of imports.

Container throughput remained robust, with 8,402 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) processed, including 3,184 import containers, 2,206 export containers, and 3,012 transshipment containers, demonstrating the diversity of container traffic handled by the port.

Truck traffic remained high during the same period, with 5,847 trucks entering the port and 5,235 departing, bringing the total traffic to 11,082 vehicles.

The Alexandria Port Authority stated that it will continue to improve operational efficiency by better utilizing existing resources and adopting modern port management technologies to enhance operational speed and accuracy.

The Authority also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of occupational safety and health across all workplaces, while complying with environmental regulations to protect the environment and prevent pollution, as part of efforts to support trade and the national economy.
