en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 6, Lena Maritime Limited, a subsidiary of GSD Shipping B.V. under Turkey's GSD Holding, signed a shipbuilding and sales agreement with Japan's Laurel World Maritime S.A. to order one 40,300 dwt Handysize dry bulk carrier. The new vessel will be built at a shipyard under Japan's Nihon Shipyard (NSY) group, with delivery scheduled for 2030, and Itochu Corporation providing guarantees for the transaction.

This order has thus been converted from a previous letter of intent into a formal contract. GSD Holding disclosed the relevant shipbuilding intention on July 28, and on August 20 further assigned the vessel procurement arrangement to Lena Maritime Limited; the latest disclosure in September explicitly specified the new vessel's deadweight tonnage and delivery year for the first time. The contract price, the specific shipyard within the NSY group that will undertake the construction, and the propulsion system have not yet been made public.

GSD Holding continued to expand its newbuilding program at Japanese shipyards this year. In February, its subsidiary GSD 3 Limited signed a contract with Laurel World Maritime for one 64,000 dwt Ultramax bulk carrier, also to be built by the NSY group with delivery scheduled for 2029, with Itochu Corporation providing guarantees.

In June and August, GSD's subsidiaries GSD 4 Limited and GSD 5 Limited respectively signed contracts with Sumisho Marine Co. Ltd. for the construction of one 64,200 dwt bulk carrier each. Both vessels will be built by Japan's Oshima Shipbuilding, with delivery both scheduled for 2029, and Sumitomo Corporation providing guarantees for the transactions.

Prior to this, in September 2025, GSD Holding had already ordered through its subsidiaries one 40,000 dwt and one 64,000 dwt bulk carrier from the NSY group respectively, with both vessels scheduled for delivery in 2029. The company also has a previously ordered 42,350 dwt bulk carrier project at Oshima Shipbuilding.

In February of this year, GSD also completed the delivery of the 42,350 dwt bulk carrier M/V Guzide, which was built by Oshima Shipbuilding at a contract value of USD 32.76 million and has commenced commercial operation since delivery.
