Two 40,000 cbm Gas Carriers from HD Hyundai to Feature Nord Gas Systems

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 8, Nord Gas Solutions confirmed it has secured equipment contracts for two 40,000 cbm medium-sized gas carriers, supplying cargo handling systems (CHS) and LPG fuel supply systems (LFSS) for two newbuildings ordered by Byzantine Maritime and built by HD Hyundai. The contract was signed in June 2026, with equipment delivery to the shipyard scheduled for April 2027.

This contract covers two key marine gas systems. The cargo handling system manages the loading, unloading, and storage-related processing of liquefied gas onboard, while the LPG fuel supply system supplies LPG fuel to the vessel's propulsion system. Nord Gas Solutions has now listed this project in its latest contract updates on its official website, confirming that both vessels are 40,000 cbm class MGCs.

Byzantine Maritime has previously used Nord Gas Solutions' cargo handling systems on its vessels, and this newbuilding order continues with the company's equipment. Patrick Ha, Sales Manager at Nord Gas Solutions, stated that this contract extends the existing cooperative relationship between the company and HD Hyundai. Public information has not yet disclosed the contract value, specific shipyard, hull numbers, or overall vessel delivery timeline for the two newbuildings.

Nord Gas Solutions is the rebranded entity of the former Wärtsilä Gas Solutions business. Following the acquisition of Wärtsilä Gas Solutions by Mutares SE & Co., the new brand was officially launched on June 1, 2026. Its existing product portfolio includes cargo handling systems, LPG fuel supply systems, LNG fuel supply systems, and ammonia fuel supply systems, among others.
