UK's Econ Engineering Signs Contract with Highway Service Provider Ringway for 62 Winter Vehicles

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Econ Engineering has signed a supply contract with highway service provider Ringway Infrastructure Services to provide 62 winter maintenance and dedicated highway vehicles for Kent County Council, further strengthening its market position in winter maintenance vehicles.

The first vehicles have rolled off the production line at Econ's advanced manufacturing headquarters in Ripon, North Yorkshire, with the full order expected to be delivered over the coming months. The fleet will be used under Ringway's long-term highway contract with Kent County Council to ensure road safety during the winter period.

The fleet configuration includes a large number of pre-wet spreaders for primary routes, along with a smaller number of dry spreaders for secondary routes. Additionally, multiple permanently mounted hot boxes are equipped with Econ's quick-change body system, offering options for both pre-wet spreaders and insulated tipper bodies.

Key vehicle features include: Ringway's signature yellow livery, market-leading hydraulic angle-adjustable electric snowplows (with Ringway branding on the snowplow frame), a Motormax five-camera system, a Brigade BS8000 reversing radar system, and side guard infill panels. The new fleet is built on DAF and Mercedes-Benz chassis, featuring Spargo X controllers and CRC Distributor™ technology. The initial maintenance and repair coverage period for the order is eight years.

Senior representatives from Kent County Council and Ringway visited Econ's Ripon factory to celebrate the tripartite cooperation. Econ Managing Director Jonathan Lupton stated that the contract reflects the partners' trust in Econ's ability to deliver robust, innovative, and reliable vehicles. Pat Connolly, Ringway Infrastructure Services' Kent Contract Director, noted that effective winter services are critical to community operations, and collaboration with Econ ensures the fleet is fully prepared. Kent County Council's Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Peter Osborne, gave positive feedback on Econ's engineering standards and staff professionalism.
