en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 11, at the 2026 China Maritime Day · Port and Shipping Enterprise Development Seminar held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, China Classification Society (CCS) issued the world's first General Design Approval (GDA) certificate for a ship digital delivery system to COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. The issuance of this certificate signifies that CCS's digital delivery certification system has expanded from physical ship products to digital software systems, achieving full coverage.

The certified ship digital delivery system is a core achievement of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry under its trinity science and technology innovation layout. Centered on a 3D digital virtual ship, the system connects the entire data flow chain, constructing a dynamic digital twin covering the full lifecycle of a ship, enabling synchronized delivery of the physical ship and the digital ship. On the operational side, the system supports multiple tasks; on the construction side, it helps shipyards consolidate data, facilitating ship type iteration and process optimization. The system is also equipped with an AI multimodal intelligent retrieval module, capable of information retrieval and in-depth analysis, enhancing data utilization value. After verification, CCS concluded that the system meets relevant additional class notations and supports integration with the CCS relay model.

The issuance of this world's first GDA certificate marks progress from the strategic cooperation framework agreement signed between CCS and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry at last year's North Bund International Shipping Forum to the implementation of a tangible project. The certificate was issued in accordance with CCS's "Guidelines for Ship Digital Delivery" (2025), verifying the compliance and feasibility of the conceptual digital ship technical route under the digital delivery model. Relying on the "Digital Ship White Paper" system, this certificate supports the long-term development of digital ships.

Going forward, CCS will continue to leverage its leading advantages in ship rules and industry standards, deepen research and development in digital and intelligent technologies as well as ship survey service provision, collaborate with upstream and downstream partners in the industry chain to jointly promote the digital transformation of the shipping industry, consolidate the data foundation for digital management of the ship lifecycle, and contribute to the green and intelligent high-quality development of shipping.
