en.Wedoany.com Reported - Diode Ventures plans to build a 575-acre data center campus, the Goldfinch Technology Park, near Calgary, Canada, in Wheatland County. The project is located in the Goldfinch Industrial Area, which spans between Range Road 270, Township Road 222, Township Road 220, and Range Road 261.
According to documents submitted by Diode to the county, the campus will be developed in three phases, but no detailed information on the campus capacity has been disclosed.

The project achieved a milestone on July 7 this year, when the Wheatland County Council voted to advance several planning regulations, paving the way for project development. These regulations include incorporating the data center planning framework into the Goldfinch Industrial Area's planning documents and rezoning certain parcels from Agricultural General District to Industrial General District. The council passed the first and second readings of these regulations, but a third reading is required for formal adoption, and the project itself has not yet received planning approval.
Diode stated that if the land use application is approved by the Wheatland County Council, it will provide detailed plans, including campus capacity. Local reaction to the campus has been largely negative, with residents expressing concerns about noise, energy and water consumption, construction impacts, and effects on wildlife.
Calgary is located in Alberta, an inland province in western Canada. Diode Ventures is a subsidiary of Black & Veatch, an engineering, procurement, and consulting company. The company has developed and sold multiple data center campuses near Kansas City and is currently advancing projects in Texas and Idaho.
