en.Wedoany.com Reported - China's Xense Robotics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recently completed a funding round of hundreds of millions of yuan, and will focus on advancing the industrialization of high-precision three-color optical-tactile sensors, deploying tactile-visual data collection equipment, and refining tactile embodied models. The company is building a software-hardware integrated system around "perception-data-model-scenario," enabling robots to recognize contact states, perceive forces, and adjust subsequent actions in real-world environments.
On the hardware front, Xense Robotics will accelerate the industrialization of its high-precision three-color optical-tactile sensor. This product captures deformation, texture, slippage, and local geometric information generated during object contact through a visual-tactile approach, providing tactile data for fine-grained grasping, contact judgment, and operational adjustments. The company has not yet disclosed specific production volumes, facility scale, or mass production timelines for the related products.
On the data infrastructure front, Xense Robotics will advance the deployment and validation of the XTac UMI G1 tactile data collection system in real-world scenarios. This system is used to collect high-precision tactile and visual data generated during robot-object interactions and supports the construction of large-scale tactile datasets. Subsequent efforts will focus on the implementation of data collection equipment, accumulation of real physical interaction data, and dataset validation.
On the model front, Xense Robotics is refining its self-developed VTLA multimodal embodied model and tactile world model. VTLA integrates vision, touch, language, and action into a unified model framework, natively supporting tactile and contact modalities, enabling robots to understand tasks by combining visual information with contact feedback. The company plans to promote the application of related models in key embodied intelligence tasks but has not disclosed specific clients or deployment projects.
Founded in May 2024, Xense Robotics is led by Ma Daolin, an associate professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. The company has formed a product portfolio comprising multimodal tactile sensors, tactile data collection systems, the VTLA embodied model, and the tactile world model. Its focus is shifting from individual tactile perception technology research to sensor industrialization, data collection facility deployment, and model application validation.
