en.Wedoany.com Reported - After obtaining the necessary construction permits granted by the Valencia City Council, Prologis and PragmaCharge have initiated the construction of a large-scale electric truck charging station at the Mercavalencia logistics park, with a total project investment of 5 million euros, aimed at providing energy supply services for zero-emission heavy-duty fleets.
The charging station is located at the Mercavalencia logistics hub, which directly connects the terminals of the Port of Valencia with the San Luis Fuente railway facilities, with a large number of heavy vehicles traveling in this area daily. The project covers an area of 12,500 square meters and is designed to simultaneously provide charging services for multiple electric trucks.

The construction is carried out in two consecutive phases. In the first phase, 14 high-power charging piles have been installed, scheduled to be operational in the third quarter of this year. The second phase will add the remaining charging piles, bringing the total number of power supply points to 48, expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
Prologis confirmed that the charging facility is open to all transporters, not limited to its existing corporate clients. The project's budget of 5 million euros is allocated for grid upgrades, procurement of high-power transformers, and related civil engineering works. Operations will follow the perimeter security protocols within Mercavalencia, with transporters required to pass through monitoring filters at the entrance to access the platform.
The deployment of this facility reflects the transformation trend in the European road freight industry. According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), the market share of electric trucks in Europe increased from 2.3% in 2024 to 4.2% last year. However, the lack of charging infrastructure on long-haul routes remains a major factor constraining the promotion of sustainable fleets, and the launch of the high-capacity charging center in Valencia aims to alleviate supply uncertainty.
