East Central Railway of India Launches INR 40.398 Billion Koderma Double-Line Railway EPC Tender

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 6, East Central Railway of India launched the EPC tender for the Koderma Detour railway project, with an estimated tender value of approximately INR 40.3975 billion. The project is part of the Sonnagar–Andal third and fourth line expansion works, located in the Dhanbad division of East Central Railway, and plans to construct approximately 26 kilometers of double-line railway built to dedicated freight corridor loading standards.

This EPC contract covers the formation, track, and large-scale civil works for the double-line railway, including tunnels, viaducts, railway bridges, cut-and-cover structures, retaining walls, animal passages, railway underpasses, and associated railway buildings. The tunneling works include main tunnel excavation, cross passages, escape tunnels, as well as dewatering and ventilation systems during construction.

The project contract duration is 1,600 days, with a bid security of approximately INR 807.9 million. East Central Railway plans to hold two pre-bid meetings on September 29 and October 22, respectively. The formal bid window will open on December 22, 2026, with the bid submission deadline set for January 5, 2027, at 15:30.

The Koderma Detour is the mountainous construction section of the Sonnagar–Andal railway capacity expansion project. This tender packages the double-line railway, tunnels, bridges, and ancillary facilities into a single EPC contract. Upon completion, the project will create a new double-line corridor and be integrated into the Sonnagar–Andal third and fourth line expansion system.
