Malaysia's Greatech Invests RM322 Million to Expand High-End Automation Equipment Capabilities

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) previously confirmed that its subsidiary, Greatech Integration (M) Sdn. Bhd., will invest RM322 million, focusing on advanced power modules for AI data centers, autonomous fleet management systems, as well as specialized modules and components required for semiconductor front-end and back-end manufacturing.

As of the end of June 2026, Greatech's order backlog reached RM1.83 billion, more than doubling from RM608 million in the same period last year; new orders secured in the first half of 2026 amounted to approximately RM1.21 billion. The company plans to raise its year-end order backlog to RM2 billion, with an expected additional RM200 million in data center-related orders. In the second quarter, the company added approximately 350 new employees, bringing its total workforce to around 1,900, to support new order deliveries and capacity expansion.

Greatech's current data center equipment business includes automation solutions for power modules, power distribution network equipment, and cooling system manufacturing. In the second quarter of 2026, the data center business accounted for 35% of the company's revenue, photovoltaic equipment 20%, life sciences equipment 19%, semiconductor equipment 14%, and electric mobility-related equipment 12%. The company's RM322 million investment will also add manufacturing capabilities for specialized modules and components for semiconductor front-end and back-end processes.

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority has listed Greatech as a high-technology enterprise within the country's machinery and equipment industry. The company's business encompasses the design, manufacturing, integration, and testing of precision automation equipment. This new investment has been incorporated into Malaysia's approved manufacturing investment projects for 2026, with subsequent focus centered on equipment production line construction, workforce expansion, and the delivery of semiconductor and AI data center equipment orders.
