Czech CSG invests €49.7 million to expand Tatra Defence production base

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 6, Czech industrial group CSG launched an expansion plan for Tatra Defence's production base in Kopřivnice, with an investment of approximately €49.7 million planned over the next three years, adding about 14,000 square meters of production space while procuring machine tools, specialized measuring equipment, surface treatment systems, and other manufacturing equipment. The project is being implemented in two phases, with the first phase already underway.

The first phase will construct approximately 5,500 square meters of production facilities, primarily for welding operations, along with a three-story administrative building capable of accommodating more than 150 employees. Trial operation of the production area is scheduled to begin in December 2026, with the administrative section expected to be completed by April 2027.

The second phase will add approximately 8,500 square meters of production space, focusing on machining and painting facilities. Tatra Defence is currently preparing project documentation for the second phase, with completion planned for the first quarter of 2028. Once both phases are fully completed, the Kopřivnice base will have a combined additional production area of 14,000 square meters.

Tatra Defence primarily manufactures and modifies wheeled and tracked armored vehicles, with current products including the Pandur 8×8, TITUS 6×6, TADEAS, as well as armored cabs, vehicle superstructures, and special-purpose platforms. CSG is also advancing the Tatra Trucks investment project in the same industrial park, with both projects sharing site land, utilities, and logistics facilities.

Companies under the Tatra Defence brand currently employ more than 550 people, with plans to add up to 300 new employees by the end of 2026 and a further 100-plus hires in 2027. This €49.7 million investment covers production facilities, processing equipment, testing infrastructure, and surface treatment capabilities, and upon completion will further expand military land equipment manufacturing capacity.
