en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 5, Kirby Building Systems and Structures India commenced construction of a new manufacturing facility at the Manapparai SIPCOT Industrial Park in the Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu, India. The project involves an investment of approximately INR 2.395 billion and covers 33 acres, with a planned annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of pre-engineered steel structures, expected to commence commercial operations by mid-2027.

The new plant will produce pre-engineered steel building systems and structural steel components, primarily serving industrial plants, warehousing facilities, logistics centers, and other large-scale infrastructure projects. Kirby Building Systems currently operates more than seven manufacturing facilities globally, with an annual production capacity exceeding 515,000 tons and over 100,000 projects executed cumulatively.

Upon completion, the Manapparai project will expand Kirby's manufacturing and delivery capabilities in southern India. The company stated that the Tiruchirappalli region offers training resources in engineering, welding, and industrial technology, and the new plant is expected to create approximately 1,000 jobs over the coming years. Located within the SIPCOT Industrial Park, the project site can leverage the park's existing industrial infrastructure and transportation logistics.

Kirby India is a subsidiary of Kuwait-based Alghanim Industries, with operations covering the design, engineering, production, and installation of pre-engineered steel structures. Once the new 33-acre plant becomes operational, Kirby will add 100,000 tons of annual steel structure manufacturing capacity in southern India and will supply steel components for regional industrial and infrastructure projects.
