en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 8, Syntec, a Chilean engineering consulting firm, announced that it had completed a 3D reverse engineering project for an industrial screen plate for a Canadian mineral processing equipment supplier. The project used laser scanning to obtain geometric data of the existing component, completing 3D point cloud processing, digital model reconstruction, and engineering drawing preparation, resulting in digital deliverables suitable for subsequent engineering design use.

The work was jointly undertaken by Syntec's surveying and topographic measurement, 3D reality data acquisition, and computer-aided design teams. Technical personnel first reviewed the laser scan data, then completed point cloud cleaning, post-processing, and spatial alignment, and subsequently reconstructed the external structure of the screen plate based on the actual geometry reflected in the point cloud. The engineering team used FARO SCENE software to manage the point cloud data, and the processed files were in E57 format, serving as the basis for subsequent 3D modeling.

During the model reconstruction phase, Syntec used computer-aided design tools to convert point cloud information into an editable 3D engineering model, with a level of development reaching LOD 350, and produced accompanying 2D engineering drawings. The deliverables can be used to query the external geometry, main dimensions, and structural features of the component, supporting the client in conducting geometric comparisons, component modifications, and subsequent engineering design. The project did not disclose scanning accuracy, model dimensional deviations, or the specific number of measurement points.

For this service, Syntec's surveying and topographic measurement department was responsible for point cloud analysis and technical coordination, while the 3D modeling team undertook geometric reconstruction and drawing preparation. The company confirmed that the deliverables passed internal review, and the client raised no major technical objections.
