en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 7, Renishaw, a UK-based precision measurement and industrial manufacturing technology company, announced progress on the expansion of its advanced manufacturing site in Miskin, Wales. The first phase of the £70 million expansion project has been completed, and Building 3 has been put into operation. Following the expansion, the site's available floor area has reached approximately 57,400 square meters, and is expected to increase to approximately 81,800 square meters once Building 4 is fully operational. The new facilities are primarily used for the production of precision measurement equipment, metal additive manufacturing systems, and position measurement products.

Building 3 houses the production of metal additive manufacturing equipment and the AGILITY series coordinate measuring machines, and is also equipped with a multi-million-pound automated storage and retrieval system. The building has approximately 17,900 square meters of manufacturing space, with assembly, material storage, and turnover areas arranged according to the product manufacturing processes. Building 4 has completed its main structural construction, and production equipment will be installed in phases according to product requirements.

The site currently has 134 CNC machine tools, processing approximately 1 million parts per month, and operates 3 printed circuit board assembly lines, utilizing robotic assembly and automated storage systems. Renishaw has also arranged for the procurement of additional manufacturing equipment to meet subsequent customer orders and manufacturing needs. The site currently employs approximately 950 people, engaged in precision machining, electronic assembly, complete machine manufacturing, and technical support.

As demand from semiconductor equipment manufacturers for Renishaw's position encoders grows, the company plans to bring part of Building 4 into use in the coming months to increase manufacturing capacity for related products. The remaining areas of Building 4 will be gradually brought into use based on sales demand and equipment installation progress. The company has not yet announced the specific number of equipment units, designed annual capacity, or the full operational date for the new encoder production line.

Renishaw acquired the approximately 193-acre former Bosch industrial site in 2011. As of 2026, cumulative investment, including site acquisition, renovation of existing buildings, construction of new factory buildings, and installation of advanced manufacturing equipment, amounts to approximately £150 million. The new factory buildings are designed with the goal of net-zero carbon emissions during the operational phase, and the company plans to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2028.
