en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 15, the Russian Port Alliance Group announced that it has launched the installation of internal railway catenary and electrification works at the Oustra coal terminal in Khabarovsk Krai. The project covers 45.2 km of port railway, with overall construction currently at 17.5% completion, and the electric traction conversion is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. The works are part of the terminal's capacity expansion plan and support the port's annual coal throughput capacity increase to 40 million tonnes.

Three construction contractors are participating in the project, with workers installing catenary foundations and associated technical facilities along the port railway. All 1,209 reinforced concrete foundations required for the project have been delivered to the site, of which approximately one-third have been installed; metal structural components and reinforced concrete cable troughs are still being delivered. The catenary system will cover the internal railway operating lines of the port, providing infrastructure for electric locomotives to enter the port's loading and unloading operation areas.

The Oustra terminal is located in the Vanino district of Khabarovsk Krai, Russia, and is operated by Far Eastern Transport Coal Company. The port railway connects to the Russian Far East railway transport network, and the electrification works need to be synchronized with Russian Railways' Eastern Railway Corridor modernization program. The Port Alliance Group has incorporated the locomotive handover arrangements at the adjacent Toki railway station into the project interface plan to support the adjustment of railway traction methods.

The Oustra terminal capacity expansion project also includes new railway wagon tippler facilities, coal conveying and transfer equipment. On October 9, the terminal began testing new automated production process control software, preparing to connect the three-wagon tippler constructed under the investment project to the existing production system. The associated supporting works and the railway electrification conversion jointly serve the port capacity expansion plan.
