en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 12, Alstom of France announced that it had completed the delivery of 18 third-generation Traxx Universal multi-system electric locomotives to Polish rail logistics operator CLIP Intermodal. These locomotives come from multiple procurement contracts previously signed by the two parties, with a maximum operating speed of 160 km/h, and are mainly used for cross-border intermodal services on major rail freight corridors from Poland to Western Europe and Central Europe. The contracts also include preventive maintenance services during a two-year warranty period.

According to the contractual arrangements, the 18 locomotives are divided into two operational configuration groups. Of these, 13 have been approved for operation in Poland, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, and France; the other 5 are planned for use on the railway networks of Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. The latter batch of locomotives corresponds to the procurement contract signed by the two parties in March 2025, bringing the total existing order volume to 18 units.

The delivered vehicles adopt the Traxx Universal modular electric locomotive platform, which can be configured with AC, DC, and multi-system traction solutions according to the power supply systems of different railway networks. The locomotive bodies are manufactured at Alstom's Wrocław plant in Poland. The vehicles are designed for cross-border freight transport and have the capability to haul heavy-haul freight trains.

These locomotives are equipped with Alstom's Onvia Cab onboard European Train Control System (ETCS), used to adapt to European railway signaling standards and cross-border operational requirements. The relevant systems support locomotive operation across different countries' railway networks, reducing the need for locomotive changes in cross-border transport. As of this announcement, Alstom has delivered more than 300 ETCS onboard projects worldwide, with cumulative installation of more than 25,000 onboard units, covering more than 200 vehicle types.

CLIP Intermodal is part of CLIP Group and mainly engages in rail container intermodal transport and logistics services. Following the delivery of these locomotives, the company plans to further expand its international intermodal business connecting Poland with Western Europe and increase its operational capacity on major freight corridors in Central Europe.
